Description
A diesel light tower burns about S$1,035 of fuel a month at today's pump prices. This one costs S$7.38 of electricity to run over the same 22 night shifts. Same 4.2m mast, more light on the deck, and no engine to refuel, service or apologise for.
The AIKO ATL-500-4.2M is a lithium-ion battery LED tower light built for Singapore construction, M&E, marine and infrastructure sites. It puts out up to 62,000 lumens on mains and 33,000 lumens on battery, runs over 20 hours on a single charge in standard mode from three D24-500 packs, and is rated IP65 for outdoor use through the monsoon season.
Why sites are switching off diesel
- Silent. No engine, no vibration, no exhaust. Night work near HDB blocks, hospitals and schools stops being a noise problem.
- No refuelling. No jerry cans on site, no fuel theft, no spill risk, no diesel storage to justify to your safety officer.
- No servicing. No oil changes, no filters, no engine that will not start on the one night you need it.
- Indoor-safe. Zero emissions means it can go into basements, tunnels, car parks and enclosed structures where a generator set cannot.
- Runs on mains too. Plug into 100–277V AC for unlimited runtime at full 62,000lm, and it charges while it lights.

Cheaper than diesel before you even switch it on
A new diesel light tower in Singapore currently sells for roughly S$7,600 to S$10,500. The ATL-500-4.2M lands under that — and then costs S$7 a month to run instead of S$1,250. Renting is the other option: Singapore hire rates run about S$450–900 a month per unit, so this pays for itself against hire in roughly 8 to 16 months and keeps working after that at no running cost.
Where it earns its keep: night works
Under NEA construction noise limits, a site within 150m of residential buildings is capped at 55 dBA between 10pm and 7am, and 70 dBA (Leq 5 min) between 7pm and 10pm. Near hospitals, schools and homes for the aged the evening cap tightens to 55 dBA. A running diesel generator set does not sit inside those numbers. A battery tower light makes no noise at all — so the light is never the reason a night permit gets refused or a complaint gets raised.
